Robert Granfeldt has resigned from his position as group publisher of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal and Amarillo Globe-News. He began his tenure as publisher in February 2018.

Regional Vice President Matt Guthrie will be temporarily assuming his duties.

Paxton Media Group has purchased the Log Cabin Democrat, a daily newspaper in Conway, Ark., along with three Arkansas weeklies in Clinton, Heber Springs and Newport, according to Randy Cope, managing director of Cribb, Greene & Cope, who represented GateHouse Media in the sale. Cribb, Greene & Cope is a leading merger and acquisition firm with offices in Virginia, Arkansas, Montana and California.

Chris Roush, Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, has been named dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University.

Muhs resigns as State Journal-Register editor 5/21/19

Executive Editor Angie Muhs has resigned after five years with The State Journal-Register in Springfield, Ill.

Muhs, a native of Olney in southern Illinois, had a successful tenure at the SJ-R, leading statewide projects and editorial campaigns during the historic two years Illinois was without a state budget.
