Halifax Media Group closes sale of Sebring News-Sun
Halifax Media has sold the Sebring (Fla.) News-Sun to Sun Coast Media Group, Inc. based in Port Charlotte, Fla. Halifax Media purchased the Sebring News-Sun in September 2013 from HarborPoint Media as part of an acquisition that also included the Leesburg Daily Commercial and the Clermont South Lake Press.
"The Sebring News-Sun and their excellent employees are a great match for the Sun Coast Media Group. Sun Coast Media has newspapers and publications near Sebring and throughout the region, including Port Charlotte and Venice, so Sebring is an excellent addition to their group," said Michael Redding, CEO of Halifax Media Group. "The Dunn-Rankins have published newspapers in the area for many years and are well respected. They will continue to invest and grow the business. We wish all the Sebring News-Sun employees and Sun Coast Media the best."
Lewis County Press, LLC, has acquired The Grand Saline Sun of Grand Saline, Texas. The Grand Saline Sun is Lewis County Press' ninth newspaper acquisition and second investment in a Texas newspaper; the company continues to seek additional papers to expand its portfolio of rural, subscriber-based weekly newspapers.More
Community Publishers, Inc. of Bentonville, Ark., has sold its six weekly Tulsa area community newspapers and the daily Tulsa Business and Legal News to BH Media Group.More
Journalism's highest honor went to The Post and Courier (Charleston, S.C.) on Monday afternoon for its series on domestic violence – a series that has spurred legislation that has an uncertain future in the Legislature. The Pulitzer Public Service gold medal was awarded for the P&C's "Till Death Do Us Part" series that was published across five editions in August. Reporters Doug Pardue, Glenn Smith, Jennifer Berry Hawes and Natalie Caula Hauff authored the series.More
