Morris Communications promotes McHaney to senior vice president

Morris Communications, LLC has announced the promotion of Martha Jean McHaney to senior vice president of human resources and labor for the company.

McHaney has been with Morris since 2000 having previously held top human resources positions at the Arkansas Gazette (Little Rock, Ark.), The Denver Post (Denver, Colo.), and The Wichita Eagle (Wichita, Kan.) McHaney also served as vice president of administration at Westward Communications in Dallas.

"This promotion is timely and well-deserved," said William S. Morris III, chairman of Morris Communications. "Martha Jean has played and continues to play an important and necessary role in our company. We are lucky to have her with us."

At Morris, McHaney is responsible for the company's human resources functions including employee relations, labor, recruitment, learning and development, benefits and policy development.

"It's an honor to work with the people of Morris here in Augusta and throughout the country," said McHaney. "I'm proud of what we do, what we accomplish every day – making certain people have the information they need."

McHaney holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Arkansas State University and earned a Juris Doctorate from The University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law.
