The Wilson (N.C.) Times has named Corey Friedman as its editor, President and Publisher Morgan Dickerman III announced Monday.

Friedman served as the Times' online editor from the summer of 2012 through May 2014 before accepting a position as editor of the Richmond County Daily Journal in Rockingham, N.C., where he stepped down Friday to return to the Times.

"It's very special to be able to have someone the caliber of Corey to come back to Wilson," Dickerman said. "Since 1896, we have had a long tradition of having talented, dedicated editors to serve the newspaper and the Wilson community, and I know Corey fits that mold. He has dedicated his life to the newspaper business, and his career choice has led him to this leadership role at The Wilson Times. He is ready and I am excited to have him lead us in this challenging new world of print and new media."
