Improvements coming to Richmond Media Group newspapers’ classified sections

In an effort to improve the advertiser and reader experience of the classified pages, Richmond Media Group newspapers are launching an improved format for their classified column widths.

A prototype of the new six-column classified layout.
On Tuesday, Feb. 4, the Richmond Times-Dispatch and Richmond Suburban News (The Mechanicsville Local, The Goochland Gazette, Chesterfield TD, Henrico TD, Powhatan Today, Cumberland Today and The King William Local) will join the ranks of newspapers across the country by introducing a new six-column format to their classified pages. The classified section serves as a regional marketplace of goods and services for sale and a daily delivery of helpful information.

This improvement will allow advertisers to run the same size ad in the classified section and regular daily news sections. Advertisers who run ads in major daily newspapers across the country can now run the same ad in Richmond Media Group newspapers without any size alteration.

The Richmond Media Group's goal is to advance newspaper industry standards by offering more compelling products that better engage readers and advertisers to make greater use of the papers' print products.  At the same time, the company's websites have launched several new products in recent months, including a major real estate site and a new easier approach to reading obituaries and paid death notices.  These improvements are another reflection of the papers' long-term commitment to better serve their advertisers and readership.
