HubCiti, the easy to implement mobile app platform that brings together community, commerce and news, and Frank Mayborn Enterprises featuring the Killeen (Texas) Daily Herald and Temple (Texas) Daily Telegram have launched a new mobile app based on the HubCiti platform. The mobile app will provide new ways to distribute news and information to people in Bell County, as well as offer new advertising options for local businesses.

The new mobile app was configured and operational in 30 days from contract signing, making HubCiti one of the easiest and most robust platforms to implement for newspapers in the growing digital age. The app called "Central Texas News" is immediately available on Apple AppStore and Google Play.

"We wanted to add a mobile app to our growing digital portfolio. We were interested in delivering a community app that could not only showcase the area, but also drive good traffic to our website, while offering additional advertising options to our clients," said Kristen Cameron, digital services manager of the Killeen Daily Herald. "We chose HubCiti because their program was more comprehensive and set up better than the other vendors we looked at. Their references were excellent and their customer service exceeded our every expectation."

In all, the app has 12 key features, ranging from news and sports to movie times, event calendars and job listings.

In addition to offering the latest local and regional news through the combined resources of the Telegram and Herald via FME News Service, the app provides instant, need-to-know information such as weather alerts, traffic maps and updates and GPS directions.

App users also will have direct access to the Telegram and Herald newsrooms to offer news tips and information, simply by clicking a button.

The app gives users the latest sports news and features through Temple Sports and KDH Pressbox, as well as national and regional sports coverage through the Associated Press.

A click of a button also gives app users instant access to Tex Appeal magazine, a monthly publication about life and style in Central Texas.

With the Central Texas News app, users also have one-stop access to more than 10,000 Bell County businesses, as well as complete real estate listings.

The app's education button instantly links users to 19 area school districts, including individual elementary, middle and high school campuses. The app also is tied in to six colleges and 13 private schools.

The app also offers users money-saving coupons and deals, with offers updated daily.

With the Central Texas News app, users will have a wealth of valuable information at their fingertips, anywhere they are, 24 hours a day – all at the touch of a button.

HubCiti apps can be implemented as "self serve" and full-service options depending on the needs and resource considerations of the newspaper. Currently, there are seven HubCiti mobile apps serving 48 cities.

"The HubCiti promise is to provide the easiest option to help newspapers across this country deliver on their digital promise by creating new revenue options, while also making the newspaper the center of the community again," stated Roy Truitt, CEO of HubCiti. "We also pledge to help every partner newspaper through one simple idea – leverage our people, technology and resources to help improve communities through post high school education scholarships."
