SNPA and Inland to consolidate!
I am happy to announce that the members of SNPA and Inland have voted overwhelming to consolidate into a new association that will launch on October 1. This is great news for the newspaper industry!
The consolidation is the result of many months of hard work by leaders from both SNPA and Inland. Our united goal was to develop a new association that will build on our strengths to serve our members not just for today, but also for the future.
The new association will provide a strong voice for newspapers, promote the indispensable value of newspaper journalism to local communities, and support newspapers as they adapt their business models to a quickly changing landscape.
In addition to its new focus, the new association will preserve the networking, the camaraderie, and the idea-sharing that are hallmarks of SNPA and Inland. Perhaps most importantly, the new association will be run by faces and names you already know – the dedicated and experienced members of the current SNPA and Inland staffs.
Between now and October, a team of attorneys will complete legal documents and filings, a marketing/branding firm will conclude its work on naming and messaging, and a national search will be conducted to hire a CEO to lead the new association.
In the coming months the SNPA eBulletin will be featuring more about the new association and the benefits it will provide you as members. But, in the meantime you can refer to these FAQs about the consolidation, and of course feel free to contact me directly with any questions.
This is exciting. And it is a giant step in the right direction – for SNPA, for Inland, and for newspapers.
I hope you will plan to join us for the historic launch of this new association – and a celebration of SNPA and Inland – at the joint SNPA-Inland annual meeting in Chicago, October 6-8. Early bird registration ends July 16. Take advantage of the discount by registering you and your team today at inland-snpa.org.
