GateHouse Media to acquire Pueblo Chieftain 5/14/18

The Star-Journal Publishing Corp. of Pueblo, Colo., has reached an agreement to sell The Pueblo Chieftain newspaper to GateHouse Media, one of the largest publishers of locally based media in the United States.

Dirks, Van Essen & Murray, a media merger and acquisition firm based in Santa Fe, N.M., represented the Rawlings family in the transaction. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Tillotson inducted into newspaper Hall of Fame 1/23/18

Dolph Tillotson, who, during a career spanning nearly 50 years has earned a reputation for developing hard-edge community newspapers, was among four journalists inducted last Friday into the Texas Newspaper Foundation Hall of Fame.

Additional inductees were: Victor Fain, former publisher of The Daily Sentinel in Nacogdoches, who died in 2000 at age 84; John C. Taylor Jr., former Seguin Gazette owner and publisher, who died in 2014 at age 88; and longtime Associated Press correspondent Mike Cochran.

Alex Taylor to succeed John Dyer as Cox Enterprises president, CEO 5/1/17

Cox Enterprises Chairman Jim Kennedy has named Alexander C. Taylor, executive vice president and chief operating officer, as the company's next president and chief executive officer, effective Jan. 1, 2018. Taylor will succeed John Dyer, president and chief executive officer, who will retire in Dec. after 40 years with the company. Dyer and Taylor will both continue serving on the Cox Enterprises' board of directors.

Kim Guthrie appointed president of Cox Media Group 9/26/16

Cox Enterprises has announced that Kim Guthrie will be appointed as president of Cox Media Group, an integrated broadcasting, publishing and digital media company. She will succeed Bill Hoffman who has announced he will retire at the end of the year after a distinguished 38-year career in media. Guthrie will assume the role on Jan. 1, 2017, and report to Cox Enterprises Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Alex Taylor.
