Tribune Publishing Co. has officially rebranded as tronc, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRNC) and began trading Monday on the Nasdaq Global Select Market ("Nasdaq") under the ticker symbol TRNC. tronc, or Tribune Online Content, will work to transform journalism and offer a new model for media companies, where technology and iconic storytelling are pooled, personalized and presented to a global audience in real time.

"This is an exciting day in the evolution of our company, and we are proud to join Nasdaq alongside other innovators and tech companies as we create a new media model for the industry," said CEO Justin Dearborn. "tronc is built on the foundation of brands that have upheld the respect and honor of their communities for over 250 years. We remain committed to maintaining the highest integrity and value of journalism, while experimenting with how to enhance and deliver engaging visual storytelling."

"In ways we've never done before, we are gaining insight into the behaviors and preferences of our audiences," said Chief Technology Officer & President of New Ventures Malcolm CasSelle. "With that knowledge, we can create highly customized experiences for readers and new opportunities for advertisers."

Journalist Anne Vasquez assumes the role of tronc's chief digital officer to infuse the new culture across all of tronc's brands.

"We need to bring our stories to life more quickly and dynamically, leaving more time for our journalists to conceive and pursue ideas," said the former managing editor of the Sun Sentinel, which under her leadership was awarded the 2013 Pulitzer Prize Gold Medal for Public Service. "When you make stories more engaging, the work of our award-winning journalists will reach a wider audience."
