Sumter paper publishes final Saturday edition

The Sumter (S.C.) Item has published its final Saturday print edition. The paper is now officially printing five days a week, and has a wide range of plans for expanding its growing digital services division.

For starters, the paper plans to roll  out a variety of targeted email newsletters that readers can sign up for at www.theitem.com/newsletter.html.

In a recent column in the paper, Graham Osteen, editor-at-large, said: "We'll also be getting more heavily into local video storytelling, which we know readers will enjoy regularly on our website."
