The Dallas Morning News has a new head of advertising with more than 20 years of newspaper and digital media experience.

Eric J. Myers has been named president of Belo Media Group, which handles advertising and marketing services for the media properties owned by A. H. Belo Corporation, including The Dallas Morning News and digital marketing firm Belo + Company.

Myers most recently was with Cox Media Group, where he headed up advertising for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Before the 2017 sale of several properties by Cox, he was a multi-market vice president over newspaper and online advertising for the AJC, the Austin American-Statesman, Palm Beach Post, Dayton Daily News, Mundo Hispanico, Kudzu.com and smaller Cox-owned regional newspapers.

"I'm excited to be part of the business community and I respect the size of the market and the important advertisers in town," Myers said. "I look forward to forming partnerships and creating relevant advertising solutions for our Dallas businesses. It's what will fuel our journalism well into the future."

Myers will succeed Alison Draper, who has served in executive roles in various divisions of A. H. Belo since 2006. Draper said she is starting a consulting firm in Dallas to work with companies on their strategy, organization design, culture and media.
