Sonya Wendell Manfredi named VP, government affairs

Sonya Wendell Manfredi has joined Cox Enterprises as vice president of government affairs. In this role, she will serve as a representative to Capitol Hill for Cox and its companies, including Cox Communications, Cox Automotive and Cox Media Group.

"Sonya brings an impressive track record of successfully representing complicated issues to members of Congress and their staffs," said Joey Lesesne, senior vice president, public policy and government affairs, Cox Enterprises. "Her expertise on issues important to Cox is further bolstered by the perspective of having served nine years as a Congressional staffer, both in the House and Senate. Because of her unique background and strong relationships, we know she will hit the ground running."

For nearly a decade, Wendell Manfredi has advanced complex public policy initiatives for The Internet & Television Association as its vice president of government relations. While in this role, she was responsible for lobbying and education activities for the cable broadband and television industry, gaining extensive telecommunications and technology expertise.

Previously, Wendell Manfredi advised key Democratic Representatives and Senators, including Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) and Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.), on pending legislation and policy matters.

She graduated cum laude from Drake University with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Political Science.
