General manager/advertising directors have been appointed to CNHI newspapers in four Kentucky communities, effective immediately.

They are:

  • Allen Handley, Glasgow Daily Times. Handley has been the publisher of the Clinton (Tenn.) Courier. He is a 29-year veteran of the newspaper industry, starting at the Macon (Ga.) Telegraph. He also held management roles at the Athens (Ga.) Herald Banner and The State in Columbia, S.C., in addition to the Clinton Courier.
  • Gary Tyler, Richmond Register. Tyler joins the newspaper from Louisville Business First, where he served as president and publisher, and before that advertising director. He has also been an advertising and marketing director for a variety of local, regional and national advertising agencies.
  • Mark Walker, Sentinel Echo in London and Times Tribune in Corbin. Walker was promoted to the two-town role from audience development director in London, Corbin and the Commonwealth Journal in Somerset. Prior to joining CNHI Kentucky, he had been the circulation director for Bluegrass Newsmedia, LLC in Kentucky, a subsidiary of Boone Newspapers.

Steve McPhaul, CNHI executive vice president of newspaper operations, said each of the appointees has proven executive experience that will be an asset to the communities they serve.

"We are fortunate to be able to bring their knowledge and backgrounds to the key role of general manager and advertising director at each of these Kentucky papers," said McPhaul.
