Brad Bailey, a veteran newspaper executive, has been appointed publisher of The Press-Republican in Plattsburgh, N.Y., effective immediately.

Bailey has been associate publisher and advertising director of the Pocono Record in Stroudsburgh, Penn., since 2009.

Robin L. Quillon, senior vice president of operations for Community Newspaper Holdings, Inc., parent company of The Press-Republican, said Bailey's leadership and innovation skills will prove valuable to the newspaper's print and online platforms.

"Brad brings a wealth of multimedia experience and enthusiasm," said Quillon. "The staff, the readers and the communities The Press-Republican serves are getting a publisher who understands the need for local focus and quality content."

Bailey said he's grateful for the opportunity to lead the newspaper and is excited to get acquainted with residents of the Plattsburgh region.

"The news industry is as challenging as it has ever been and yet we have more readers exposed to our information than at any other time," he said. "The base is strong for community newspapers – and especially in Plattsburgh."

Bailey began his newspaper career in 1991 as a classified sales representative at The Daily Item in Sunbury, Penn. He was promoted to sales manager in 1998 and later to advertising director before moving on to the Pocono Record.

Bailey holds a bachelor's degree in advertising from Pennsylvania State University.
