SNPA News Industry Summit

How and why readers engage with us

Posted

Are you wondering how to make your coverage more successful in ways that will grow audience and engagement? Attend Liz Worthington's session at next month's SNPA News Industry Summit where she will highlight research from 50+ publishers across the country that have made strategic decisions to cover content differently.

Worthington is content strategy program manager for the American Press Institute in Arlington, Va. She says the audience is in charge. Consumer habits are changing across audiences and one group in particular – Millennials – is pointing the way to new business models. This presentation will highlight findings from API's Metrics for News research that helps publishers build empirical, modern news strategies. Unlike conventional analytics, the Metrics for News program can help publishers quantify the nature of the content they produce as well as how and why audiences engage with it.

Worthington manages API's program to help publishers create data-driven content strategies. She joined API after nearly 10 years as a reporter and editor for various newspapers and digital platforms. Just before joining the team, she served as the senior editorial trainer for Patch.com where she built an editorial curriculum that focused on enhancing the field's digital news, social media and audience development skills. Prior to training, Worthington served as a manager and editor at Patch.

This is the last week that SNPA members can save on registration fees.  Costs go up next Wednesday; register today to save $100.
