Steve Smith named Dothan Eagle publisher

Steve Smith has been named regional publisher over the Dothan Eagle and five other newspapers in Berkshire Hathaway Media Group's Alabama division, the company has announced.

Smith, an Alabama native, has held leadership positions with major publishing groups and has an extensive community newspaper background. He starts July 28 and replaces Alan Davis, who left in May.

"I am excited to return home to Alabama and to join this talented group of media professionals," said Smith, who currently serves as senior vice president of partner relations for Publishing Group of America in Franklin, Tenn. "These are exciting times in the media world. We have the opportunity to serve our markets via multiple outlets – print, web and mobile devices."
