Jeff Smith named publisher at Weatherford and Mineral Wells

Jeff Smith has been appointed publisher and advertising director of the Weatherford (Texas) Democrat and the Mineral Wells (Texas) Index, effective immediately.

Smith was most recently advertising director of The Eagle in Bryan College Station, Texas, and is returning to his former position in Weatherford.

"We are delighted to have Jeff back working with our company. He has been greatly missed," said Steve McPhaul, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Community Newspaper Holdings, Inc., the papers' parent company.

"I am confident he will continue to do the same excellent job that he previously did running these newspapers in two exceptional Texas markets," McPhaul added.

Smith first joined CNHI in 2008 as a member of the digital marketing group. He then served as director of corporate training before becoming publisher in Weatherford and Mineral Wells in 2013.

"I am thrilled to be coming back to this part of Texas. I look forward to working with these two talented teams of employees and the people in these wonderful communities," Smith said. "Together, we can accomplish great things."

Smith is a graduate of Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J. He and his wife, Regina, have three sons and one grandchild.
