New ProImage America, Inc. has announced a number of customer orders for major upgrades to its NewsWay digital workflow automation and control solution.

The Albuquerque Publishing Company, N.M., the Miami Herald and the Kansas City (Mo.) Star have all upgraded to the new NewsWay Version 6 workflow software.

This latest version includes an advanced user interface that enables users to automate production priorities and, when interfaced to a plate-sorting device, it optimizes plate sorting to maximize production efficiency.  It also incorporates a RIP upgrade to Harlequin's latest software and with the NewsWay plug-in provides RIP page status, monitoring and error reporting through a browser.

In addition the new version also includes a valuable upload portal that enables printers to provide their customers with a tool to upload files directly into the planned edition, thus reducing production time and the potential for error. It also includes an image comparison tool that highlights changes between versions of the same page. Last-minute changes are now very easy to verify during production. Also an overprint separation view enables the user to view any combination of the four separations thereby catching overprint problems before print.

NewsWay version 6 supports Windows 2012 64 bit OS and Windows 7.

Both the Albuquerque Publishing Company and the Miami Herald have also upgraded their ProImage OnColor ECO ink optimization software. Meanwhile a new customer for OnColor ECO, also in Florida, is the Beaches Leader and Ponte Vedra Leader. The publisher has elected to use this cost-saving software in the Cloud as a service (SaaS).

"You achieve the highest quality while saving money. It's a no brainer," says Rick Shafranek, vice president sales and marketing, New ProImage America.
