Chattanooga Times Free Press purchases NewsXtreme enterprise

Presteligence announces that the Chattanooga (Tenn.) Times Free Press will deploy NewsXtreme production workflow solutions.

As Chattanooga made the decision to print rather than be printed, the need for production workflow software was imminent.  NewsXtreme will give the Times Free Press the automation it previously lacked because of its letterhead press.  The paper's staff will import files from ALS 8000 to facilitate the automatic creation of a production plan in NewsXtreme including number of pages, ads and color vs. black.  NewsXtreme uses this schedule to automatically pair the pages as well as add any furniture, fan-out and creep adjustment.

This automation, along with NewsXtreme's web-based soft proofing will help the Times Free Press compete for commercial jobs that previously weren't viable.  Commercial clients can log into NewsXtreme to approve pages of their job order before going to press.  Ink-Miser Ink optimization will also give the paper an improved printed product while using less ink.

Going on 20 years, the Times Free Press has been using Presteligence's original flagship workflow solution, GUSS, as its file moving system.  That longevity along with two other WEHCO Media papers using Presteligence workflow (Northwest Arkansas Times and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette) made NewsXtreme a natural choice.

"NewsXtreme will allow them to do so much more with imposition automation and product scheduling," said Bob Behringer, president & CEO of Presteligence.  "Discovering innovative solutions that fit the needs of our customers drives our success so we are happy to continue our long standing relationship in Chattanooga."

Micah Young, IT director at the Times Free-Press said, "We're excited to be working with the team at Presteligence through this conversion. Having worked with Bob and his team over the years, we know the products just work and the support is top notch. It is critical to us to know that we have a partner who will stand with us as we navigate the exciting days ahead, and Presteligence has the track record to show they'll be there with us."
