Free NIE materials to follow round-the-world sailing voyage

For the next school year, November 2016 through February 2017, sitesALIVE! is offering Ocean Challenge Live! – a free, live, interactive, NIE program for print and online, connecting NIE constituencies to Vendee Globe 2016, a solo, round-the-world, non-stop sailing voyage. (See explanatory PDF). 

A 64-page Teacher's Guide, written by teachers, offers 15 weeks of classroom activities and current events exercises. Weekly features, written by Skipper Rich Wilson offshore and a team of experts onshore, are available camera-ready for print publication; online content includes ship's log, audio, Q&A, essays, photos, videos and global discussion forums.

sitesALIVE won NAA's Innovators in Education Award in 2000 (with the Wichita Eagle), and has produced 75 live, interactive NIE print and online programs connecting adventures, expeditions and events to students in classrooms and families at home in a curricular-based classroom format since 1993, and has published such NIE series in over 100 newspapers worldwide.
