Morris Publishing Group has announced that Maggie Louie has been named vice president of audience for ABH Media, the Athens Banner-Herald and onlineathens.com.  This senior-level position will focus on building a powerful community voice by growing the news, audience and digital efforts.

"Maggie's strategic partnership strengths and creative approach to building audience makes her ideal for Athens and for ABH Media," said Scot Morrissey, publisher of ABH Media, the Athens Banner-Herald and OnlineAthens.com.  "She also has a passion for our community."

Louie has worked in the publishing industry since 2006 and was the senior editor for Heath + Fitness Magazine, Memphis.  She was named associate publisher of E.W. Scripps Niche department in 2008 and in 2010 was awarded a National Silver Addy for Original Design.  Louie worked as a digital product manager and in 2011 led the mobile business development for the Los Angeles Times where she focused on custom app development and strategic partnerships.

Louie said ABH Media and Morris are among the few media companies "talking about the future of our industry in a way that truly excites me. I feel privileged to be on board with so many innovative thinkers." She said, "I am excited about being part of change; in the way we think of ourselves and the way our audiences think of us."

"Maggie brings unique digital, audience-building talent and experience to this position," said Derek May, executive vice president of Morris Publishing Group.  "I'm looking forward to her contributions in Athens."

Prior to Louie's career in publishing, she was the lead singer for the Athens-Based band Buttermilk and recorded six full-length CDs.
