Laskowski joins News & Advance as GM, regional ad director

Mark Laskowski has joined The News & Advance in Lyncburg, Va., as general manager and regional advertising director. Laskowski has 37 years of experience with daily and weekly community newspapers, including 15 years at Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina newspapers.

Laskowski has held publisher positions at daily and weekly community newspapers and with commercial printing operations in Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and South Carolina.

He began his career as a reporter and editor and moved into retail and classified sales, followed by management positions in advertising, circulation and pre-press production.

He has been involved actively with SNPA, the Virginia and South Carolina press associations, Local Media Association and is a past president of the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association.

In his new position, he will oversee print and digital advertising sales for The News & Advance and the Danville Register & Bee, as well as for The Burg, a weekly entertainment magazine distributed in Lynchburg, and for the weekly newspapers the Amherst New-Era Progress and The Nelson County Times.
