Hanson named publisher of Daily Times; Pike promoted to GM

Bill Hanson, a veteran newspaper executive, has been named publisher of the Glasgow (Ky.) Daily Times, effective immediately.  The Daily Times is published by Community Newspaper Holdings, Inc.

Daniel Pike, editor of The Daily Times for the past 1 ½ years, has been promoted to general manager of the paper. He will take on daily operational responsibilities as well as continue to oversee the news and editorial functions.

Hanson is currently publisher of the Jeffersonville (Ind.) News and Tribune. He will continue in that role as well as serving as publisher of The Daily Times.

Hanson started in the newspaper business 30 years ago as a farm reporter and photographer in West Point, Neb. He later served as an editor, advertising director and publisher at newspapers in Wyoming, South Dakota and Corbin, Ky.

Pike is a native of Glasgow, with more than 16 years of newspaper experience as a reporter and newsroom executive. He began his newspaper career as a paperboy for The Daily Times in the early 1990s.

A journalism graduate of Western Kentucky University, Pike is a former sports editor of The Daily Times, and has worked at the Nashville Tennessean as an intern, as a reporter at the State Journal-Register in Springfield, Ill., and as the city editor and assistant managing editor at the Bowling Green Daily News.

Pike has won several awards for reporting, writing and design, including recognition by the Kentucky Press Association, Illinois Press Association and the Illinois Associated Press Editors Association. He lives in Glasgow with his wife, Amy, and their daughters, Anne Rhoades, 6, and Emaline, 4.
