After 10 years at the helm of the state's largest newspaper, editor Denis Finley is leaving The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk, Va.). He told the staff last Thursday that he's ready for a change.

"I've done a lot of different things in my life," Finley, 62, said. "It's time for me to try something new."

During his tenure, The Pilot has twice been named finalist for a Pulitzer Prize.

"We are saddened by the news," said Pat Richardson, the newspaper's publisher. "His daily presence will be missed, and we wish him all the best in his new endeavors."
