Two Signal Multimedia executives (Santa Clarita, Calif.) have assumed new roles, according to Charles H. Morris, CEO of Morris Multimedia, the Signal's parent company.

Randy Morton, current publisher and executive producer of Signal Multimedia, has relocated to Statesboro, Ga., and become director of Strategic Growth Initiatives for Morris Newspaper Corporation's Southeast Georgia and Southern California operations.

Russ Briley, who was general manager of Signal Multimedia, has been promoted to publisher of The Santa Clarita Valley Signal and will be in charge of day-to-day operations.

"Randy will focus on helping our company improve existing products as well as developing new ways to connect consumers and businesses," Morris explained. "He has been a progressive change leader throughout his career with our company."

Morton will continue to provide regional oversight for Signal Multimedia.

"The experience Randy received during the past two years in California has further broadened his abilities to help our company test some new growth ideas," Morris added. "I'm pleased that he has accepted his new challenge to help take us forward as a media company."

"I look forward to this new career challenge," Morton said. "I appreciate the opportunities Mr. Morris has given me to grow, learn and contribute over the years."

Briley, a longtime Santa Clarita Valley resident, rejoined Signal Multimedia in September 2012 as director of product sales and then was promoted to general manager in August 2013.

A seasoned newspaper veteran, Briley started his 35-year career at the Los Angeles Daily News in 1978.

Briley has served the Santa Clarita Valley in a number of capacities, including as a member of the Castaic Area Town Council from 1997 to 2001, on the Castaic Chamber of Commerce board of directors from 1998-2001, and as past president of the Castaic Lions Club.

Morton said, "Russ has done a great job for us as general manager and I am confident that he will be a successful publisher."

The Santa Clarita Signal becomes a member of SNPA through Morris Newspaper Corporation's new corporate membership.
