Jamie Beacom has been named general manager of the Mt. Vernon Register-News, effective mid-July.

Beacom moves to Mt. Vernon from the Ashtabula Star Beacon, where he has been serving as its advertising director.

"I look forward to becoming a part of the team at the Register-News and working to make it a top performer for CNHI," Beacom said.

He began his career with the Star Beacon in 2003 as a sales representative and has spent the past six years as the director of advertising sales.

"Jamie is an industry veteran with a strong track record. He has high expectations for quality products and understands that the mission for the Mt. Vernon Register-News is to be a leader in local news and information," said Keith Blevins, executive vice president and chief operating officer for CNHI. "With his proven leadership abilities and his passion for quality community journalism, he is ideally suited to be the general manager in Mt. Vernon."

Beacom is a 1991 graduate of Kent State University in Ohio, and has a bachelor's degree in business management.

"Being a lifelong resident of Ashtabula, it was a very difficult family decision to take on this new challenge," Beacom said. "We are very excited to get to Mt. Vernon and immerse ourselves in the community."

Beacom and his wife of 20 years, Lisa, have two daughters.
