VP of sales named for Gannett’s Carolina region

A Clemson University graduate and publishing veteran has been appointed vice president/sales and general manager of Gannett's Carolina region.

Orestes Baez currently is vice president/advertising for the News-Press in Fort Myers, Fla., a Gannett publication. He will begin his new role Aug. 11, said Dave Neill, president and publisher of the Asheville (N.C.) Citizen-Times and regional president of Gannett/Carolinas.

In the new role, he will have oversight and responsibility of all advertising functions for both Gannett's Greenville and Asheville markets.

Working closely with VP/Executive Editor Josh Awtry, Regional Marketing Director Darrell Lewis and Neill, Orestes' general manager role will include a variety of administrative and community leadership duties across the region.
