Two newspaper groups to consolidate copy/pagination desks 2/13/19

Two Georgia newspaper groups are consolidating their copy/pagination desks to become more efficient, streamline processes and improve their products.

Times-Journal, Inc., in Marietta and Southern Community Newspapers, Inc., in Lawrenceville earlier this month announced plans to consolidate their copy desk and pagination staffs.

The process began as each company transitions to the Town News Total CMS (Content Management System). The companies signed agreements with Town News in late 2018 and plan to produce their products on the new systems in early March. Once that's taken place, the consolidation of the pagination process will begin.

Alabama pension funds continue investment in CNHI newspapers 1/8/19

RSA is made up of several state employee pension funds. Its holdings include golf courses, office towers and, until now, Raycom Media, of which CNHI was a part. But Raycom was sold to Gray Media, while CNHI will remain based in Montgomery with RSA.

You're the general manager of three small newspapers in north Florida, two of them much smaller than the third. It would be easy to cut costs by closing one or both of the smaller papers, each with circulation in the hundreds, not the thousands. Just shut one or both down, give their subscribers the larger paper instead, and hope they don't resent it too much. That's not what they did.
