The Star-Journal Publishing Corp. of Pueblo, Colo., has reached an agreement to sell The Pueblo Chieftain newspaper to GateHouse Media, one of the largest publishers of locally based media in the United States.
Dirks, Van Essen & Murray, a media merger and acquisition firm based in Santa Fe, N.M., represented the Rawlings family in the transaction. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.MORE

Additional inductees were: Victor Fain, former publisher of The Daily Sentinel in Nacogdoches, who died in 2000 at age 84; John C. Taylor Jr., former Seguin Gazette owner and publisher, who died in 2014 at age 88; and longtime Associated Press correspondent Mike Cochran.MORE
Cox Enterprises Chairman Jim Kennedy has named Alexander C. Taylor, executive vice president and chief operating officer, as the company's next president and chief executive officer, effective Jan. 1, 2018. Taylor will succeed John Dyer, president and chief executive officer, who will retire in Dec. after 40 years with the company. She will succeed Bill Hoffman who has announced he will retire at the end of the year after a distinguished 38-year career in media. A new association formed by the consolidation of SNPA and the Inland Press Association was officially launched today. The name of the new association will be announced on Oct. 6 at the association's first annual meeting in Chicago.
