Paxton Media Group has announced several promotions due to retirements and an acquisition in its North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia Division. The announcement came from Jana Thomasson who will be assuming the president role of the North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia Division of PMG in January 2019.
"I am excited to see members of our group advance into new positions," said Thomasson. "I also wish the ones retiring my very best. They'll truly be missed."
Marvin Enderle has announced his intention to retire as publisher of The Newspapers of West Georgia in Carrollton, Ga., at the end of the year. In this role, Enderle has overseen The Times-Georgian in Carrollton, The Douglas County Sentinel in Douglasville and The Griffin Daily News in Griffin.MORE
Paxton Media Group has announced the purchase of the Goldsboro (N.C.) News-Argus from Wayne Printing Company.
Dirks, Van Essen, Murray & April, a media merger and acquisition firm based in Santa Fe, N.M., represented Wayne Printing Co. in the transaction. Terms were not disclosed.
Paxton Media, a family-owned company headquartered in Paducah, Ky., owns more than 35 daily newspapers, a television station and numerous weekly publications across Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina and Tennessee. Rick Bean has announced his intention to retire as president of the North Carolina/Georgia/Tennessee division of Paxton Media Group and publisher of the High Point (N.C.) Enterprise at year end.
Jana Thomasson, publisher of the Mountain Press in Sevierville, Tenn., has been named to succeed Bean as president of the division. The announcement was made by David Paxton, president and CEO of PMG.MORE
