Marc Wilson, chief executive officer of TownNews.com, a subsidiary of Lee Enterprises, Inc., has been named executive chairman of the company. Brad Ward, who currently serves as COO, will become CEO, the company said Friday. The changes become effective Oct. 1.

In his post as general manager, he'll oversee daily operations, including recent survey-based alterations to the newspaper's content.

The McClatchy Company has announced the appointment of Maria Thomas to its board of directors. Thomas replaces Kathleen Foley Feldstein, a long-standing member of the board, who retired at McClatchy's annual meeting on May 18.

Williamson replaces Ricky Mathews, who previously announced his intention to transition out of his role as NOLA Media Group president and help lead new initiatives with Advance Local, a group of affiliated websites and newspapers of which NOLA.com and The Times-Picayune are members.
