SNPA, INF Launch Webinar Initiative
Wednesday, December 02, 2009
SNPA and the Iowa Newspaper Foundation have announced the launch of Online Media Campus, a partnership to provide comprehensive online training to newspaper professionals. Online Media Campus will offer 20 high-quality, low-cost webinars in 2010 covering such topic areas as editorial, print and online advertising sales, technology, social networking, management skills and much more.
These interactive webinars will run approximately 60 minutes, eliminate the need for travel and time away from the office, and include follow up by presenters to ensure that all questions are answered. The only equipment required is a computer with Internet access and a telephone.
The cost for a single webinar will be $35. Groups of employees gathered in conference rooms or auditoriums may participate for one low registration fee. Additional discounts will be available for companies that register for entire series of webinars or for employees who need to participate from more than one location. Webinars will be archived for convenient on-demand training.
“This shift to digital delivery of the SNPA Traveling Campus program is designed to offer valuable professional development opportunities to newspaper employees who find it difficult in this economy to schedule time away from the office for traditional training programs,” said Edward VanHorn, executive director of the SNPA Foundation. “These cost-effective and time-efficient webinars will offer fresh ideas to newspaper employees and improve their job skills.”
Chris L. Mudge, executive director of the Iowa Newspaper Association, said: “This is a critical time for the newspaper industry, and SNPA and the INF are enthusiastic about offering timely, relevant and affordable national training for newspaper professionals in all areas of the industry.”
Webinar production will be managed by The Iowa Newspaper Foundation and funding will come from the SNPA Foundation. Both foundations will share responsibility for program development.
The SNPA Foundation, the educational foundation of the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association, specializes in professional development for newspaper employees.
The Iowa Newspaper Foundation is the educational foundation of the Iowa Newspaper Association providing online and on-site training to newspaper professionals across the state, Midwest and country.
