Press Operator

The News-Topic of Lenoir, N.C., has a fulltime opening for an experienced press operator.
 
We are a morning, six-day a week newspaper that utilizes a nine-unit Goss Community Press. Recently we invested in a state-of-the-art CTP unit with a NELA plate bender. Not only do we print the News-Topic and its many publications but we also print another company newspaper and have several commercial printing contracts.
 
We are a member of the Paxton Media Group that provides a full package of benefits including medical insurance, life insurance, disability, paid holidays and vacation, and 401-K with company contribution.

Packaging Manager

The VICTORIA ADVOCATE is seeking a Packaging Manager.
 
The Packaging Manager will be responsible for the successful operation of the Packaging Department.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Hires, manages, schedules and trains mailroom staff,
  • Achieves on-time quality inserting and distribution of products to vendors,
  • Sets up machinery and software for daily runs and zoning, Troubleshoots entire packaging operation,
  • Works with internal customers to ensure completion of packaging directives,  
  • Takes a leading role in customer satisfaction.

  • Comfortable with fast-paced work environment,
  • Able to work within tight deadlines,
  • Expert multi-tasker,
  • Good verbal communication skills.
Requirements:
  • Available to work nights, weekends and holidays,
  • Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs repeatedly,
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and background check.
Preferred experience/expertise:
  • Experience in AM Graphics 1372 or 1472 circular inserters, Quipp stackers and ancillary packaging equipment is a plus,
  • Experience in newspaper packaging and management preferred.
