The Fayetteville Observer is searching for a dynamic Creative Services Manager to join our advertising department. Our CSM works closely with our sales team developing print and on-line ads and custom products for clients. This position will manage multiple priorities.

 

The Fayetteville Observer is North Carolina’s oldest newspaper. As a privately held company, we strive to create a unique work environment where hard work is recognized and appreciated. Our creative team has won Best In State awards for the last three years. Our CSM will take this group to the next level.

 

Duties include managing the entire print and online ad development process, to include scanning, toning images, and designing ads. The CSM will develop and maintain quality standards for all advertising and marketing collateral, maintaining checks and balances to assure proper quality control. The CSM will assist in preparation of annual expense budgets and business plans.

 

In addition, the CSM will coordinate and manage aggressive spec ad and campaign development, track, and report results accordingly. S/he will work with IT to keep equipment and systems working smoothly, and understand system interfaces from order entry to pagination. S/he will hire, train, and evaluate reporting positions.

 

Successful candidates will have a minimum five years experience in design, illustration and layout for print media. A degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, or related field is required. Minimum 2 years supervisory and/or leadership experience required.

 

Candidates must have a demonstrated proficiency in Macintosh OS or Windows platforms including Microsoft Office, CS3 Adobe in design, Illustrator, Photoshop and Flash.

 

Preferred candidates will possess a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Business or related field. Candidates must demonstrate effective leadership and performance management. S/he will have familiarity with online advertising functions and publication design. S/he will have a minimum of five years of progressive advertising management experience.
