Controller
The Augusta Chronicle seeks a Controller to oversee and manage all financial and accounting for The Chronicle and its Portfolio.
The Controller directs and develops monthly management reporting package and analysis, communicates financial results to the management team. Directs the monthly, quarterly and annual budgeting and variation reporting to identify areas requiring attention and areas for possible improvement.
A successful candidate will possess the following skills:
- Bachelors degree.
- 5+ years controller or chief accountant experience.
- Minimum of 4 years management and supervisory experience, preferably within the newspaper industry
- Expert ability to gather and analyze facts and figures and to prepare, supervise and execute budgets
- Highly detail oriented and organized.
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines on multiple projects.
- Knowledge of budgeting and cost containment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directs all business office functions for The Augusta Chronicle and its Portfolio
- Prepares and analyzes monthly, quarterly and annual financial forecasts and results
- Coordinates preparation of the annual budget
- Analyzes current and prospective operations to identify opportunities to drive revenue, reduce expenses, create efficiencies and establish strategic partnerships
- Directs accounting and financial functions in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and policies. Exerts internal controls to protect company assets, ensures safe handling of cash and meets all legal and company requirements, ensures compliance with GAAP and F/ARM, Sarbanes Oxley Controls and Morris’ internal audit standards
- Supports business objectives of the organization
